    Indications:

    For dogs with dietary fat sensitivities (e.g., hyperlipidemia, PLE, lymphangiectasia, pancreatitis, history of pancreatitis or at risk of pancreatitis) and concurrent urinary conditions:


    • Calcium oxalate urolithiasis, reduce recurrence

    • Calcium phosphate urolithiasis, reduce recurrence

    • Struvite urolithiasis, reduce recurrence

    • Struvite dissolution

     

    Contraindications:

    For dogs with dietary fat sensitivities (e.g., hyperlipidemia, PLE, lymphangiectasia, pancreatitis, history of pancreatitis or at risk of pancreatitis) and concurrent urinary conditions:


    • Calcium oxalate urolithiasis, reduce recurrence

    • Calcium phosphate urolithiasis, reduce recurrence

    • Struvite urolithiasis, reduce recurrence

    • Struvite dissolution

    Not Recommended For:

    • Growing puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs.

    • Patients with concurrent use of urinary acidifiers, non-struvite or non-calcium oxalate crystalluria and/or stones

    Evidence-Based Clinical Nutrition:

    Nutritional management can help reduce mineral excretion in urine (such as Ca, P, and Mg), inhibit formation of struvite and calcium oxalate and stones and encourage struvite dissolution in dogs. 1,2,3

    • Reduce inflammation associated with UTI and stones

    Common urinary bacteria can cleave urea, increasing urinary ammonia levels and urinary pH, thus predisposing to struvite formation. Monitoring urinalysis is recommended. An elevated urine pH may indicate a recurrent bacterial infection.


    Note: Urine pH values of individual dogs may vary significantly throughout the day and be affected by several non-dietary factors.
